SnapFit Labs: Stretch Fabric Retention System (SFRS)
Product Overview

The SnapFit Retention Cover System is designed to provide a clean, precise termination point for stretch fabric systems around architectural penetrations such as electrical boxes, lighting cans, sprinklers, smoke detectors, and similar elements. Each cover is custom-sized and includes integrated fabric retention grooves for secure and professional installation.
Recommended Tools
-
Rubber mallet (for compression ring models)
-
Fabric tucking tool
-
Scissors or Utility Knife

Check Before Installation
-
Confirm correct SKU and size.
-
Verify opening diameter matches product specification.
-
Ensure mounting surface is clean and secure.
Step 1 - Position the Cover
-
Place the SnapFit SFRS unit over the opening (electrical box, can light, etc.).
-
Ensure it is centered and flush with the mounting surface.
-
If applicable, secure the cover using appropriate fasteners and/or glue based on substrate type.

Step 3 - Tuck Fabric into Groove
-
Using a knife or small pair of scissors, cut an X in the middle of the SFRS unit. (Be sure to cut the X to the edge of the inner part of the SFRS unit)
-
Using a tucking tool press the fabric into the integrated retention groove using a star pattern. Work evenly around the perimeter:
-
Do not open grooves more than the thickness of a tucking tool + 2 pieces of fabric
-
Avoid over-stretching
-
Maintain consistent depth
-
Ensure fabric seats fully into groove
-

Step 2 - Apply Fabric
-
Stretch the fabric system evenly across the surface, maintaining consistent tension.
-
Trim and finish tucking fabric into existing track system first. Ensure the fabric lies flat and wrinkle-free before moving onto the SFRS unit.

Step 4 - Final Trim
-
Tuck the fabric completely into the integrated retention groove using the same stat pattern.
-
If required, trim excess fabric carefully to maintain a clean finish.
-
-
Inspect for:
-
Even tension
-
Clean edge alignment
-
Secure retention
